  • Mount Kilimanjaro | Lemosho Route

If you’re looking for a longer trek to help with acclimatization, the Lemosho Route is a great option. It usually takes eight days to complete and connects with the Machame Route at Shira 2 Camp. The drive to the starting point takes about 4 hours.

Arusha has plenty to offer if you’re looking for more hotel options for accommodations before and after your trek. Just inform us of your preference, and we can provide an exceptional private transfer between Arusha and Kilimanjaro. The pre-trek mountain orientation with your guide, scheduled for the evening before your trek, will remain the same, and we’ll take care of all the necessary arrangements. All Kilimanjaro treks can be taken as private trips, starting any day. Group departures are also offered on selected dates.

Itinerary Details

Day 1: Arrive at Kilimanjaro Airport, transfer to Moshi

A driver will meet you at the Kilimanjaro Airport after you go through immigration and customs. Look for someone with a sign that says “Savannah Tales” and your name. Without traffic, it takes at least 45 minutes to get to Moshi.

You will have a trek orientation today with your Kilimanjaro guide. This will also allow you to rent necessary items and pack for the trek. Any extra luggage that you don’t need for the hike can be left at the hotel.

We recommend an extra rest day before your trek if you have time.

Day 2: Drive to Kilimanjaro National Park Londorossi Gate, Hike to Mti Mkubwa Camp

Start your day with breakfast and a briefing before a 2.5-hour drive to Londorossi Park Gate. Once there, you will need a 4WD vehicle to navigate the forest track leading to Lemosho Glades. If you’re a fast hiker, you may even catch the sunrise from the summit. Expect to encounter snow on your 1-hour ascent to the summit.

Reaching Uhuru Peak means you’ve reached the highest point on Mount Kilimanjaro and the entire continent of Africa!
