Tomorrow morning, your Safari Guide will pick you up from your accommodation in Arusha. The drive to Tarangire is on a well-maintained tarmac road across the beautiful Masai plains with scattered acacia trees. Along the way, you will see many Masai people in their colorful attire walking on the roadside, herding their cattle, riding bicycles, and driving donkey carts.

Tarangire National Park is renowned for its vast elephant herds. “You’ll have the opportunity to venture into the seasonal swamps, trace the meandering path of the Tarangire River, and traverse the swamps in pursuit of a diverse range of wildlife. Keep a keen eye out for creatures like zebras, wildebeests, buffaloes, elephants, and giraffes, all while enjoying unobstructed views from the open roof of your vehicle.” You might glimpse a lion stalking its prey or leopards relaxing in the trees above.

Following an enriching game drive, you will go to the lodge, where a delectable dinner awaits, setting the stage for a peaceful overnight stay. This journey has allowed you to immerse yourself in the myriad sights and sounds of the untamed wilderness.

After enjoying breakfast, your journey will continue towards the lush highlands where the Iraqw people cultivate wheat, coffee, and corn. You’ll pass through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area and marvel at the breathtaking Ngorongoro Crater before arriving at the Serengeti National Park by midday. 

Tanzania’s extensive park showcases an array of terrains and ecosystems, encompassing vast grassy plains, serene swamps, pristine lakes, sweeping savannahs, and rugged mountain ranges. It’s also the site of the largest wildebeest and zebra migration, which you may have the opportunity to witness depending on the season. Following a comprehensive wildlife expedition, you will journey to the Seronera Valley to savor an evening meal and settle in for an overnight rest.

Today, we have multiple game drives planned in the Serengeti National Park. This habitat has various wildlife, including impalas, buffaloes, crocodiles, and hippos. However, the park is renowned for the large herds of zebras and wildebeests that migrate through the area. The rainfall influences the animals’ migration route and varies each year. 

During November and December, the herds move from the northern region, characterized by woodlands and hills, to the grassy plains of the south. They return to the north when the more extended rainy season starts from April to June. 

In addition to witnessing the migration, you may spot predators, such as leopards, cheetahs, and lions, always nearby. After a day filled with unforgettable memories, we’ll return to our lodging, where you can unwind, enjoy a satisfying dinner, and rest for the night.

Start your day with an early breakfast before heading out on a game drive in the Serengeti. Watch for the “Big Five” – lions, elephants, buffalos, rhinos, and leopards – as they roam freely in the unfenced reserves. This offers an uninterrupted game-viewing experience. 

After your game drive, you will travel to the Ngorongoro Crater. Upon arriving at the crater’s edge, you will first glimpse the breathtaking scenery that awaits you the following day – glistening streams, open grasslands, and infinite animals. Spend the evening and night at a lodge located nearby.

For those who wake up early, a breathtaking spectacle awaits as the sun ascends over the crater’s rim, painting the sky with stunning hues. Once you have enjoyed a hearty breakfast, you can embark on a thrilling drive down the adventurous track into the crater. Recognized and honored by UNESCO as a World Heritage site, this remarkable natural marvel was sculpted over countless millennia, featuring a fantastic depth of 610 meters and an expansive expanse covering around 260 square kilometers.

Thanks to its dense animal population of approximately 25,000, the crater boasts the best game viewing among all the parks in Tanzania. Within minutes, you can spot wildebeests, zebras, gazelles, elephants, and over 500 bird species in the area. With a little bit of luck, you may even catch a glimpse of the endangered black rhino grazing in the grass.

Following an in-depth wildlife exploration and a delightful picnic lunch, you can depart from the crater in the afternoon, returning to Karatu.

After breakfast today, your final destination on this incredible safari is Lake Manyara National Park. This small but diverse park is located 120km west of Arusha. The park derives its name from a sprawling, shallow saltwater lake that extends across a significant portion of the park, its water levels ebbing and flowing with the changing seasons.

It’s home to thousands of flamingos and over 500 other bird species. During your exploration of the park, you’ll see monkeys, giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, buffalo, and elephants, and with a bit of luck, you might even spot lions lounging in the trees. The park gains recognition for its array of terrains, encompassing expansive open grassy plains, woodlands teeming with primates, and rugged cliffs adorned with majestic baobab trees. After another memorable game drive, you’ll return to Arusha in the late afternoon.
