Tarangire National Park is Tanzania’s sixth-largest national park. It is located in the Manyara Region in the north of the country, in the northern tourism zone, and is renowned for the Tarangire River that runs through it. This river is a vital source of fresh water for numerous wildlife species in the Tarangire Ecosystem, particularly during the dry season.

The Tarangire National Park is home to a diverse range of wild animals, including wildebeest and zebras. These animals migrate to the park during the dry season from their wet-season dispersion and calving areas. Elephants can be seen grazing on the plains, while lions and zebras provide a memorable African Safari experience with their roars and barks.

Beyond the wildlife adventure, the park’s 2850 sq km area is adorned with remarkable baobabs, sun-blistered termite banks, vast swamps, and grassy savannah plains. The Tarangire River divides the park into two sides, providing a dry-season pull for many wildlife encounters.

During the rainy season, visitors spread over a 12,500 sq miles range until they return to the park’s green plains and rivers. However, the Tarangire population of elephants can be encountered throughout the year. The park’s swamps, tinged green year-round, are home to 550 bird varieties, making it the most breeding species in one habitat in the world.
